The PEP Foundation is working in cooperation with Yayasan Bali Sahaja (YBS) to create a brighter future for Balinese youth through education. Currently, the two foundations are combining forces to build training rooms at SMK PGRI Payangan High School of Tourism. The school currently has 700 students squeezed into 10 rooms, one toilet and extremely limited facilities. The new training center will exemplify sustainable education, eco tourism and environmental sustainability. The UNWTO recognizes the developmental power of tourism in the fight against world poverty. As the UNWTO notes, tourism can provide much-needed income in developing countries. At the same time, it’s vital to ensure that tourism benefits the host community economically, environmentally and socially. Education is another proven way to escape poverty. When the people of a country are well-educated, health problems, corruption and environmental degradation are significantly reduced. Education also gives people better work opportunities. With these things in mind, the PEP Foundation is proud to be working alongside Yayasan Bali Sahaja, as well as the faculty and students of SMK PGRI Payangan High School of Tourism. The PEP Foundation is also supporting disadvantaged youth and women, and providing job training skills through the Elshadai Welfare Association located in the Lugari District in West Kenya. The foundation is headed by Solomon Havi and has been in operation since 2000.
